Nassau County HurricaneSandy             Art Competition

In 2012, Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano held an Artist Competition in memory of victims of Hurricane Sandy. I felt the compassion to do this work of art to capture what my fellow Long Island neighbors had went through because some of those residents who lost their home were residing at Nassau Community College’s gym building as an evacuation shelter when I attended the college. The painting was created with a use of acrylic and some mixed media. It captured the beginning of how the storm started, the wreckage it caused, the different families and animals it affected,  and the rescue team rescuing the residence. This painting was named “From Darkness To Light: Sandy Relief” because there is always hope. The artwork was chosen to be displayed in several exhibits throughout Nassau County.
